09 AprPinterest Has Huge Potential for the Green Industry

If you’re a grower, retailer or marketer in the Green-Industry and have not heard about Pinterest yet, your missing out on what could be the best “Social Tool” for our industry. A new report from Experian says Pinterest is now the third most popular social network in the U.S., based on number of visits, surpassed only by Facebook and Twitter. Pinterest attracted 17.8 million unique visitors in February from the U.S. alone. In terms of engagement, Pinterest is winning as well, with users spending an average of 89 minutes per month on the site. However popular,, the social network still lags behind Facebook, which has users spending an average of 405 minutes per month on its site.

The beauty of Pinterest is it is a very visual tool that helps inspire consumers and gives them an easy way to catalog their ideas for future reference, or share them with friends. Once inspired, any easy click thru to the website or blog where the idea, or product image originated can provide a visual “How To” that helps consumers to decorate or find solutions for their gardening needs. Pinterest also attracts a demographic that aligns with the Green-Industries target consumer, 83% women, most in the 35-44-age range.
