It may not surprise you that the 2010 National Gardening Survey showed Americans spent about 16% fewer dollars on gardening than the previous year. What may surprise you is that while Americans spent less money on their gardens due to the poor economy, 20% actually spent more time gardening. There were also 83 million households that participated in do-it-yourself lawn and garden activities last year an increase of 2 million over the previous year a reversal of the do-it-for-me trend we had been seeing.
